Understanding the Last Days · Session 7 of 14
The witnesses and costly testimony
Step 1
Read
Revelation 11:1–13
Use your preferred translation.
What does their testimony reveal about God’s authority over apparent defeat?
Step 2
Observe
- What does the passage say? Restate it in your own words before interpreting it.
- Who is speaking, and to whom?
- What is the surrounding context — what comes just before and after?
- Which words or phrases repeat or stand out?
Step 3
Discuss
- What are the witnesses given power to do, and for how long? Who sets the limits?
- How do the people of the earth respond to the witnesses’ deaths? What does that reveal about them?
- What does the ending of this passage say about whether the witnesses’ faithfulness was wasted?
Step 4
Apply
When have you held back an honest word about your faith because it seemed likely to fail?
Step 5
Practice
Speak one honest, kind word about your hope in Christ to someone this week, without forcing a conversation.
Step 6
Pray
Ask God for faithfulness in testimony and trust that He, not results, decides its outcome.
Facilitator notes
- Invite participation without requiring personal disclosure.
- Let people disagree respectfully.
- Avoid speculation about someone’s salvation or explaining why a particular tragedy happened.
- Never pressure participants to describe trauma publicly.
- Discuss beliefs honestly without expecting any participant to represent an entire community.
