Spoiler-free overview

The World

People vanish. Systems fail, then begin working again. The same events reach very different homes.

KAIROS

A system that helps

KAIROS is a coordination system, and its benefits are real: power restored, medicine delivered, water moving again. The novels take those benefits seriously—and ask what they cost when usefulness becomes authority.

The visitors

Vessels above the cities

Beings whose vessels appear above cities offer explanations for what has happened. Those explanations are claims. Characters must weigh them for themselves.

01

Oregon

The Circuit Haven

In the forests and river valleys of Oregon, a refuge takes shape through repair work: water that has to be carried and filtered, shelter that has to be built, medicine that has to be found. A working receiver connects the haven to what is happening beyond it.

Food is shared. The community grows. And with every new arrival comes the quieter work of caring for people—trust, patience, and the limits of what any one person can hold together.

02

Jerusalem

The Covenant City

In Jerusalem, life runs through water mains and valves, classrooms and places of worship, and the records every household keeps. Recovery arrives quickly, and with it a covenant.

Its guarantees are real. So, gradually, are its conditions. Families and neighbors with distinct lives and observances must each decide what they will give as promises turn into requirements.

03

CoreLabs

The KAIROS Protocol

CoreLabs is where the system is created and operated—by people who are good at their work and can see the good it does. Water moves. Supplies arrive.

That is exactly what makes questions difficult. When your work genuinely helps others, how do you raise a concern about it, and who is listening when you do?
