Understanding the Last Days · Session 10 of 14
Judgment and the call to repentance
Step 1
Read
Revelation 8–9; 16
Use your preferred translation.
What responses to judgment appear in the text, and what do they reveal about the human heart?
Step 2
Observe
- What does the passage say? Restate it in your own words before interpreting it.
- Who is speaking, and to whom?
- What is the surrounding context — what comes just before and after?
- Which words or phrases repeat or stand out?
Step 3
Discuss
- Read Revelation 9:20–21 and 16:9, 11. What do people refuse to do, even under judgment?
- What sins are named in these passages? Why might they be listed together?
- How can a person suffer the consequences of wrongdoing and still not change?
Step 4
Apply
Is there a warning you have experienced and explained away rather than responded to?
Step 5
Practice
Set aside fifteen minutes this week for honest self-examination with Psalm 139:23–24.
Step 6
Pray
Ask God for a soft heart that turns toward Him when He disciplines or warns.
Facilitator notes
- Invite participation without requiring personal disclosure.
- Let people disagree respectfully.
- Avoid speculation about someone’s salvation or explaining why a particular tragedy happened.
- Never pressure participants to describe trauma publicly.
- Discuss beliefs honestly without expecting any participant to represent an entire community.
